How to Learn Computer Programming Fast? Part – 1 [5 Tips]

()

Achieving any goal quickly or ahead of schedule provides you with a competitive edge. Similarly, learning computer programming as soon as possible opens doors to numerous career and business opportunities.

You might be thinking that if you had acquired programming skills a year ago, your income and career prospects could be significantly different today. However, dwelling on the past won’t change your current situation. It’s never too late to start your programming journey.

If you’ve spent years trying to learn programming without success, don’t worry. What’s important is not to repeat past mistakes. If you aspire to learn computer programming rapidly and accomplish your goal swiftly, you’ll need to take some unique and strategic steps.

This is because merely setting a goal to learn computer programming and actually achieving it quickly are two different things. Many individuals, including students and professionals, share the desire to learn programming. However, if it takes months just to get started, the importance of this goal may diminish, and your motivation to learn may wane.

If you’re eager to learn computer programming swiftly, consider the following suggestions. Whether you believe in them or not, they hold significant importance. By understanding and implementing these recommendations, nothing will be able to impede your rapid progress. So, let’s get started!

Tips to learn Computer Programming Faster

Tip number 1: Eliminate Confusion

Tip number 1: Eliminate Confusion

Confusion is often the initial hurdle when embarking on any learning journey or striving to achieve a goal, be it in life, career, or business. The realm of programming is no exception. When you commence your programming self-study journey at home, your first challenge is to conquer this confusion. It’s a common experience for many students and professionals who venture into the world of programming. The truth is, learning computer programming isn’t inherently difficult; it’s we who make it seem so. I, too, wrestled with confusion for years, impeding my career progress.

But what exactly is this confusion? It manifests in questions like:

  • Should I learn Python or PHP?
  • Which is more marketable: Web development or Software Development?
  • What should I focus on: Coding Tutorials or Programming concepts?
  • Is WordPress Development superior to Web Development?
  • Should I dive into front-end development or back-end development?
  • Must I kickstart my journey with JavaScript first, and then transition to Python?

These are just a few examples of the uncertainties that plague beginners. Asking these questions isn’t wrong, but a significant oversight many novice programmers make is not understanding the fundamental question, “What is Computer Programming?”

Gaining a grasp of the essence of computer programming can help dispel most of your initial confusion. However, if you seek answers to these questions on platforms like YouTube or Google, you’ll encounter a myriad of suggestions, topics, and diverse answers. The recurring theme in most responses is, “It depends.”

The phrase “It depends” has, I believe, crushed the dreams of countless aspiring students or, at the very least, eroded their confidence in their personal journey to learn computer programming. It has fostered procrastination and hesitation among learners.

Even those who have initiated their learning journey often struggle to progress quickly due to persistent confusion. This issue is the driving force behind my decision to write this blog post. I aim to dispel some of your uncertainties.

So, what’s the solution?

My primary piece of advice is simple: “Just start learning your first programming language.” Whether it’s PHP, Python, JavaScript, or Dart, it doesn’t matter. Why do I recommend this? Because, regardless of whether you intend to build an app, a web application, or desktop tools, you will need to use at least one programming language. Whether you aim to become a web developer, a WordPress developer, a software developer, or a full-stack developer, you will need programming languages—perhaps multiple. However, trying to learn all of them at once is impractical. Begin with one.

Once you’ve acquired proficiency in that language, you will naturally discern the broader direction. Think of it like climbing the tallest tree in a dense forest to gain a vantage point—you’ll see the lay of the land around you. This is why my first tip for you is to stop getting entangled in confusion and just start learning.

Tip number 2: Live in the Present

Tip number 2: Live in the Present

The future remains an enigma, known only to a higher power, not to me, not to you, and certainly not to any other AI tool. So, why not entrust the future to a higher authority and focus on the tasks that truly inspire you? Listen to your own intuition, not the voices of others.

The future is a realm where both exhilarating success and daunting failure reside. Which path would you prefer? Undoubtedly, success and excitement.

If you persistently ruminate, procrastinate, or endlessly consume content without taking concrete action, your aspiration to learn computer programming diminishes with each passing day. Days turn into weeks, and weeks into years. Remember, tomorrow is part of the future. What you choose to do after reading this post will ultimately shape your future. Consider it akin to selecting a computer programming video tutorial, be it Python or another language, and dedicating 1 to 2 hours daily for learning and practice. Make it a habit; view it as essential as your daily sustenance, for it is the nourishment that will fuel your path to success.

Stagnation, much like standing still for an extended period, leads to weariness even without exertion. Therefore, keep progressing toward your goals. As you embark on your learning journey, you’ll find yourself drawing nearer to your computer programming objectives with each passing day.

Tip number 3: Embrace Imperfection

Tip number 3: Embrace Imperfection

Consider the first programmers or the creators of any innovation or technology in the past. Did they follow a perfect course? Is there a course that can guarantee your country the best prime minister? Can any coaching center produce a great IAS officer? Can any course or institute make you a successful computer programmer? The resounding answer is NO.

However, these resources can train, assist, and guide you. Whether you choose to become an expert in your field is a personal decision.

I share this insight with you as someone with over 12 years of experience running a computer institute, teaching basic computer skills to thousands of students. If any of our students runs a successful software development company today, it’s not because of me or my course content. It’s because they had the drive and determination. They harnessed my experience to take the next step, learned what was necessary at each stage, and kept moving forward.

I recommend the same to students worldwide. Use the available resources that align with your goals. Extract valuable insights and tips from them, gather energy, and advance to the next stage. Every email, WhatsApp message, video tutorial, or notification may not be perfect, but each contains something of value. That’s why it came your way, and your task is to extract what’s useful and move forward. If it’s excellent, make the most of it; if not, move on.

The point is simple: there are countless online computer programming courses, programming tutorials, blogs, and tips. I’m not suggesting that you consume all of them. For instance, if you’re starting with the Python programming language, invest your time in learning as much as you can related to Python programming and, most importantly, practice.

Searching for the perfect online computer programming course is a futile endeavor. Perfection is an elusive concept; no one on Earth is perfect except for God, and even then, people criticize God for imperfection. We, as humans, are inherently imperfect in our thoughts and actions. Therefore, do not overthink it, and don’t wait for someone to deliver the perfect WhatsApp message about a computer programming course.

When you stop seeking perfection, you’ll start making progress. With each step, you’ll become better than you were yesterday—a more powerful, knowledgeable, and skilled computer programmer.

Tip number 4: Avoid the Search for Guarantees

Tip number 4: Avoid the Search for Guarantees

Be cautious when any course or degree overemphasizes the term “Guarantee” in its marketing. Imagine this scenario: I offer you $1000 to teach me JavaScript in just one month. Would you then guarantee a job worth $1000 within the following month?

The word “guarantee” is a marketing tool used to instill trust in products and services. However, even if I were to teach you, without your dedication to learning and practicing during the course, can you truly expect to secure a project or job afterward?

It’s important to understand that whether you undertake a short course or commit to a comprehensive degree program, one universal truth prevails: success requires hard work, a commitment to learning, and consistent practice. If you embrace these principles, even from the comfort of your own home, you can pave the way to becoming a successful programmer. Guarantees often prove to be empty promises when the real determinant of your success is your own dedication and effort.

Tip number 5: Find Motivation Within

Tip number 5: Find Motivation Within

If you find yourself repeatedly losing motivation, it’s likely because you’re engaging in something you neither enjoy nor truly want to pursue. You might be doing it because someone else told you to do so.

Remember, the job market offers a multitude of options. If your primary goal is to earn money quickly, there are numerous professions like sales and marketing that can help you achieve this. However, earning money through work that aligns with your natural interests and passions is truly fulfilling.

Sometimes, we might not achieve everything exactly as we envision it, leading to a loss of motivation to chase our dreams. But you can’t remain trapped in this state of confusion or continually seek external motivation. Action is the key.

To reignite your motivation, take time to reflect and analyze your situation without the distractions of a computer. Dedicate an hour each day to introspection, or better yet, disconnect from the computer for a day and use that time to think deeply about what’s best for you.

While programming may initially seem challenging, this perception can change as soon as you begin learning and practicing. As you consistently engage with it, you’ll find it gradually becomes more manageable.

These are the five tips I’ve shared with you in part 1 of “Learning Programming Fast.” I encourage you to contemplate these tips and make decisions promptly. Start your learning journey, and remember that motivation often stems from within rather than external sources.
